Rutherford County Detention Center Launches New Online Inmate Search System

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office is directing the public to a new online booking search system as the Rutherford County Detention Center transitions to a new system designed to provide easier public access to information about people currently in custody.

The Detention Center announced the change Aug. 18, encouraging residents to use the new online booking search to see who is in custody.

Officials cautioned that the website remains a work in progress. Mugshots are not currently displaying, but the detention center said officials expect that feature to become available soon.

The new system can be accessed through the Rutherford County booking search portal on Southern Software's website.

“Please keep in mind that the website is still a work in progress,” the detention center said in its announcement. “Mugshots are not currently displaying, but we expect that feature to be available soon.”

The detention center also thanked residents for their patience as officials continue the transition and work to improve public access to information.

The announcement comes as the Sheriff’s Office also released its Aug. 18 media report listing reported incidents and arrests.

Reported incidents

According to the Sheriff’s Office, two larceny incidents were reported Aug. 18.

Herman Hensley of Union Mills was listed in connection with a reported larceny of a firearm.

Charles Smith of Forest City was listed in connection with a reported larceny of a motor vehicle.

The media release did not provide additional details about either incident.

Eight arrests reported

The Sheriff’s Office reported eight arrests Aug. 18.

David James of Forest City was arrested for failure to appear and was given a secured bond of $1,000.

David Jenkins of Lake Lure was arrested for failure to appear and was given a secured bond of $10,000.

Damaurius Kelly of Ellenboro was arrested for failure to appear and was given an unsecured bond of $500.

Luther Strickland of Cherryville was arrested for failure to appear and was given a secured bond of $1,000.

Reco Mosley of Mooresboro was arrested on charges of first-degree trespass, larceny and injury to real property. He was given a secured bond of $70,000.

Michael Rabb of Hudson was arrested for failure to appear and was given an unsecured bond of $500.

Juwan Tyner of Bostic was arrested on charges including resisting a public officer, fleeing to elude arrest, assault on a female and driving or allowing a motor vehicle to be operated without registration. He was given a secured bond of $2,500.

Johnny Owens of Rutherfordton was arrested for second-degree trespass and was listed as having no bond.

Arrest information is not a determination of guilt. Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
