When officers entered the residence, they found the victim, identified as 25-year-old Tyler D. Weaver, lying on the floor. Once the scene was secured, Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services personnel entered and determined that Weaver had succumbed to his injuries.

More than 12,000 Rutherford County residents could lose access to food assistance next month if Congress fails to reach a federal budget deal, according to County Department of Social Services Director Dee Hunt.

Investigators cited three major problem areas: staffing and organization, communications breakdowns, and logistics.

“No matter what form of transportation they choose, every North Carolinian should be able to travel safely each day,” Governor Stein said. “These grants will help us reduce traffic fatalities in North Carolina.”

The Chimney Rock Village Council voted on Oct. 21 to extend its local state of emergency declaration through March 28, 2026, allowing continued access to recovery funds and coordination with state and federal agencies as storm-related repairs move forward.
