Officers partnered with ABC Boards in 12 counties for the statewide “B21” campaign, which uses underage buyers ages 16 to 19 who present their real IDs if asked. Investigators said many clerks either failed to request identification or misread IDs. Out of 578 compliance checks, 91 resulted in civil violations referred to the ABC Commission.

Deputies say Liam A. King was last seen Sunday in the Forest Hills Drive area of Asheboro. According to the sheriff’s office, Liam has cognitive impairments, is non-verbal, and may run if approached.

While patrolling the area, a deputy located a man matching the suspect’s description, later identified as 35-year-old Neal Joseph Brown, who is listed as homeless. The stolen turbocharger was found in Brown’s backpack. A subsequent search also revealed several items of drug paraphernalia.

The investigation is ongoing and involves multiple agencies, including the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, State Bureau of Investigation, Burke County Fire Marshal’s Office, and several surrounding fire and emergency response departments.

Penalties include a $100 fine for a first offense and a $200 fine plus two points on a driver’s license for a second offense.
