North Carolina Republicans have finalized a new congressional map that is expected to give the GOP another stronghold in next year’s midterm elections — part of a coordinated national effort encouraged by former President Donald Trump to expand Republican power in the U.S. House.

“The second and final application period for the NC SMART Personal Property Debris Removal Program will close on November 7, 2025,” the release states. “This program helps homeowners remove storm debris or demolish unsafe structures at no cost. Applications are for new applicants only and will not reopen.”

A lifelong learner and passionate educator, Rayfield holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (2001), a degree in Elementary Education from Shaw University (2008), and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Queen’s University (2020).

Stein and DMV Commissioner Paul Tine highlighted the agency’s progress since Senate Bill 245 took effect, allowing more online license renewals. More than 18,000 people have renewed online in the past month, and the DMV has hired 64 new examiners, reaching 95% staffing capacity statewide.
