A Message From Rutherford County Schools

“In recent days, we have seen growing discussion across our community regarding long-range planning for specific school campuses and the future organization of Rutherford County Schools. We recognize and value the deep care and commitment our community has for its schools, and we want to provide clear context about the planning process currently underway.
On September 2, 2025, the Rutherford County Board of Education appointed several of its members to serve alongside district administrators in developing a long-range facilities master plan. The committee's charge is to examine facility conditions and long-range needs over the next ten years, which necessarily includes reviewing student enrollment patterns and projected facility capacity.
As part of that work, the committee is reviewing a wide range of potential planning scenarios. Those scenarios are diverse, ranging from visions that modernize current campuses as part of a construction and renovation program to visions that fully reorganize all K-12 students throughout the county into a two feeder-pattern system. Evaluating multiple possibilities is a standard and responsible part of long-term planning. Reviewing a scenario does not mean it has been recommended, endorsed, or approved by the Board.
At this stage, no decisions have been made regarding any specific campus or organizational structure.
The committee's work remains ongoing, and no final report has been drafted. The Board has received monthly progress reports from the committee's chairman during its regular business meetings. When the committee completes its review, its findings and recommendations will be presented to the Board for further discussion.
Regardless of the committee's work, any actions concerning facility renovation, construction, consolidation, or reorganization require action by the Board as a whole. The committee itself does not make decisions; it studies options and brings forward information for the Board's consideration.
We remain committed to a thoughtful and transparent process that considers both the educational needs of our students and the values of our community. As this work progresses, we will continue to provide updates and opportunities for engagement.”

I am learning that I have a dog in this fight because I care about how the county spends my money. So there's that. The words I do not want to hear the school board crutch out on are:
*Public Private Partnerships
*Bond Issuance
*Campuses --> A campus is a college. These are schools that kids go to. So lose that term right now please.
*Opportunities for Engagement - We the people are absolutely unsatisfied with "opportunities for engagement." We are instructing those we elect to do what we want and we are NOT "engaging." Don't do what we want and we find a way to remove you.
