A years-long investigation involving the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office ACE Team, with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), has resulted in an arrest connected to suspected narcotics trafficking.
On November 13, 2025, Tyree Delante Boyce of Rutherfordton was served with multiple indictments, including three counts of trafficking opium or heroin. Boyce was issued a secured bond of $750,000.
According to investigators, the case led to the seizure of approximately 202.67 grams of fentanyl over the course of the operation. Law enforcement officials say the investigation involved extensive coordination among agencies and focused on addressing the distribution of illegal narcotics within the county.
The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office ACE Team continues to encourage residents to report information related to illegal drug activity. Anyone with knowledge of narcotics distribution in Rutherford County is asked to contact the ACE Team or submit a tip through the department’s anonymous reporting line.
