An important 14-mile section of the Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville may reopen in time for the end of summer.
Crews have been finishing work along the stretch that begins at the entrance near the North Carolina Arboretum, mowing grass and spraying seed along the roadway. A source familiar with the project confirmed that reopening is imminent.
The section includes access to several of the parkway’s most popular destinations, such as Devil’s Courthouse, Ferrin Knob, Graveyard Fields, Black Balsam, and the Art Loeb Trail. It also serves as the primary route to the Pisgah Inn.
Local businesses are anticipating the reopening, which is expected to bring tourists back into the area after the extended closure.
