Bobby Starr, age 66, of Cliffside, passed away Monday, July 6, 2026 at Hilltop Healthcare and Nursing in Rutherfordton.

Bobby was born Wednesday, December 23, 1959 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to the late Robert Lucky Starr, Sr. and Christine McGaha Blanton. He was a graduate of Chase High School and owned and operated Starr Appliance Rental for many years. Bobby was a talented musician and especially loved playing bluegrass. He had the privilege of running the soundboard for Randy Travis and the Marshall Tucker Band. Bobby was deeply involved in politics, locally, statewide and nationally. He campaigned for conservative candidates and was actively involved in Ronald Reagan’s election efforts. Bobby was also a big supporter of local law enforcement agencies and enjoyed coaching Little League and Youth Baseball teams. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeremy Starr.
Those left to honor his life and legacy include his wife of thirty-six years, Pamela Neville Starr; daughters, Stacy Starr Dobbins (Jason) of Rutherfordton and Tina Barton of Columbus, Ohio; son, David Reed Starr (Rebecca) of Statesville, NC; sister, Lynne Starr (Tim) of Cliffside; brother, Austin Coggins (Farryn) of Forest City; grandchildren, Katelynn Lane (Chris), Breanna Greene (Ben), Josh Hall (Sarah), Brooke McGee (Micheal), Hanna Maggart, Taylor Brown (Jared); great grandchildren, Neveah, Carson, Zoie, Anna, Nathan, Cohen, Callen, Emma and Maeleigh.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, July 10th at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Chad Sisk officiating. Interment will follow at High Shoals Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
