Burke County Sheriff's Office Reports Active May 2026

The Burke County Sheriff's Office has released its monthly activity report for May 2026, highlighting the wide range of law enforcement services provided throughout the county.
According to the report, deputies responded to 2,820 calls for service during the month and completed 232 reports. The Sheriff's Office also made 114 arrests, reflecting continued efforts to address crime and maintain public safety across Burke County.
Concealed Carry Permit Activity
The Sheriff's Office processed a total of 153 concealed carry permit applications in May, including 13 new applications and 140 renewal applications.
In addition, the Records Division completed 75 fingerprint requests for employment, concealed carry permits, licensing, and other purposes.
Civil Process and Court Services
Deputies served 330 civil papers throughout the month, including:
87 Civil Summonses
62 Magistrate Summonses
181 other civil documents
Detention Center and Transport Operations
The Burke County Detention Center reported an average daily inmate population of 190 inmates during May. A total of 260 inmates were booked into the facility during the month.
The Sheriff's Office State Transport Team also remained busy, conducting 34 transport trips to jails, prisons, and mental health facilities while traveling 8,133 miles.
Major Narcotics Seizures
Investigators continued their efforts to combat illegal drug activity, resulting in the seizure of:
2,444.28 grams of methamphetamine
2,855.75 grams of fentanyl
0.5 gram of crack cocaine
9 grams of marijuana
One dosage unit of mushrooms
The Sheriff's Office reported an estimated street value of $308,347.75 for the narcotics seized during May.
Six-Month Comparison
The six-month comparison included in the report shows a noticeable increase in activity during recent months. May recorded one of the highest monthly totals for calls for service and represented a significant increase in the street value of narcotics seized when compared to previous months.
The statistics provide a snapshot of the many responsibilities handled by deputies and staff members, from responding to emergency calls and serving legal documents to detention operations, inmate transportation, and drug enforcement efforts.
