Couple Charged with Felony Child Abuse in McDowell County

Detective Billie Brown with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office has charged two Marion residents, Dominic Edward Gregory, 33, and Chelsea McMahan, 31, with felony negligent child abuse resulting in serious physical injury.

Both Gregory and McMahan were taken into custody and received secured bonds of $100,000 each.

The investigation began on August 29, when Deputy Ryan Washburn conducted a welfare check at a residence in Marion following a report of possible child neglect involving an infant. Authorities say evidence gathered during the welfare check and subsequent investigation led to the arrests.

The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the case.
