Heavy rainfall on Monday led to flooding in several parts of Rutherford County, causing temporary road closures and travel disruptions.

In Rutherfordton, high water prompted the closure of multiple intersections, including Green Street at North Main Street, Green Street at Cedar Street, Crestview Street at Edward’s Street, and Baber Road at Coxe Road. Authorities urged motorists to use caution, follow detour signs, and avoid driving through floodwaters.

By approximately 6:15 p.m., Rutherford County Emergency Management reported that floodwaters had receded, allowing most roads to reopen. However, Cleghorn and Elm Street remained closed and are expected to stay blocked for several days while conditions improve.
