McDowell County authorities have charged a Marion man with multiple felony offenses following a garage break-in earlier this month.

Detective Grant Robinson with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 28-year-old Dillan Ethan Powell with felony breaking and/or entering and felony larceny after breaking and/or entering. Powell, who was already out on pretrial release at the time, was denied bond.

The incident occurred on Saturday, November 1, when Deputy Chris Dvorak responded to a Marion residence reporting a break-in. According to the homeowner, Powell had removed several items from the garage, including two John Deere riding mowers, a red push mower, two weed eaters, a leaf blower, a pressure washer, two aluminum ramps, and other items of lesser value.

Following an investigation, detectives were able to confirm the thefts and recover the stolen items from a location in Old Fort.

Powell now faces serious charges and is in custody as the case moves forward.
