Jesse "Larry" Harris

Jesse “Larry” Harris, age 81, of Forest City, passed away Friday, March 6, 2026 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

Larry was born Friday, April 7, 1944 in Rutherford County to the late Jesse Vernon Harris and Virginia Helen Kuykendall Harris. He was a graduate of R-S Central High School, class of 1964. Larry owned and operated two local nursing homes and later worked as a sales associate at Walmart. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and football. Larry was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Forest City and a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge #381 in Forest City.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty-two years, Joyce Marks Harris; brothers, Lewis, Bobby, and Danny Harris; sisters, Madge Haughn, Betty Arrowood and Juanita Wall.

Survivors include his stepsons, Hayward Marks (Kim) of Rehobeth, NC and Kevin Marks of Asheville; sisters, Gloria Hudson of Forest City, Dawn Bradley of Shelby, NC, Jackie Camp of Forest City; four grandchildren, Luke Marks, Zachary Marks, Andrew Marks, Maggie Marks and his fur baby, “Blue.”

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 9th at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Glen Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
