Keith Downey

Keith Downey, age 59, of Forest City, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City.

Keith was born Saturday, June 25, 1966 in Rutherford County to the late James Russell Downey and Janice Keeter Downey. He was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1984 and was of the Baptist faith. Keith was an Associate at BMW for over twenty-seven years. He enjoyed camping, trips to the beach and any outdoor activity. Keith could fix about anything and was known as a “Jack of all Trades.” His greatest passion was working hard so that he could provide for his family. He was truly a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.

Those left to honor his legacy include his loving wife of thirty-seven years, Caroline Downey; son, Joshua Downey (Paige) and daughter, Hannah Greene (Robert) all of Rutherfordton; sister, Sonya Greene (Shannon) of Forest City; grandchildren, Addison Downey, Alayna Downey, Cullen Downey, Aubrey Bradley, Bailey Greene, Colton Greene; mother-in-law, Sylvia Clark of Rutherfordton and his fur babies, Bella and Phoebe.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, March 31st at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Jerry Ruppe officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the graveside.
