Marion Man Charged With Felony Vehicle Theft

MCDOWELL COUNTY — A Marion man has been arrested after deputies say he stole a vehicle from a campsite in the Curtis Creek area.

Deputy William Guzman of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 58-year-old Robert Dale Keith with felony larceny of a motor vehicle. Keith was denied bond because he was already out on pretrial release at the time of the offense.

According to investigators, the incident occurred on Sunday, September 7. The victim reported that Keith took her Chevrolet Trailblazer while she was camping. Before the theft was formally reported, Keith was stopped by the N.C. Highway Patrol during a traffic violation and was taken into custody on outstanding warrants.

Keith was later charged in connection with the stolen vehicle by the Sheriff’s Office.
