Deputy Gioia Holland with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 52-year-old Tony Russell Buchanan of Marion with felony possession of a firearm by a felon. He was issued a secured bond of $5,000.
On October 15, Deputy Holland responded to a residence in Marion regarding a missing firearm. The victim reported that the weapon had been taken from its storage location in the home and suspected that Buchanan, who lived with the victim, was responsible.
A search of Buchanan’s bedroom led to the discovery of the missing firearm, a Ruger LCP .380. Buchanan, a convicted felon, is prohibited from possessing a firearm in the state of North Carolina.
