Deputy Tre Spearman with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 34-year-old Christin Jean Smith of Marion with felony Possession of Methamphetamine. She was initially denied bond due to already being out on pretrial release.
Also charged by Deputy Spearman was 31-year-old Marion resident Clayton Richmond Hollifield. He received a felony charge for Possession of a Schedule II Controlled substance and was also initially denied bond due to already being out on pretrial release.
On January 4, Deputy Spearman initiated a stop on a vehicle for multiple traffic violations in the West Marion area.
Hollifield was found to be driving the car without a license and Smith had an active warrant against her.
After a positive alert to narcotics by a Marion PD K9, the vehicle and occupants were searched. Suspected amounts of methamphetamine and fentanyl were located along with drug paraphernalia.
Both Hollifield and Smith were placed under arrest and transported to the McDowell County Detention Center. While being processed into the Detention Center, Smith was found to be in possession of an additional amount of methamphetamine.
Additional charges against her are pending.
