Two Marion residents have been charged following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of various controlled substances.
Detective David Jones with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office Community Impact Team charged 29-year-old Taylor McKenzie Greene with multiple felony counts, including trafficking opium or heroin, possession with intent to manufacture or sell a Schedule I substance, possession of Schedule I and II substances, and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for controlled substances. She was also charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and was issued a secured bond of $150,000.
Jones also charged 30-year-old James Boyd Woodard Jr. with felony possession of a Schedule I substance and felony trafficking opium or heroin. Woodard, who was already on pretrial release, was denied bond.
The investigation began on Saturday, August 9, when deputies stopped a Ford Escape near the Old Fort Exit on Interstate 40 for a traffic violation. Greene was driving, and Woodard was a passenger. Using the assistance of MCSO K-9 Hiko, deputies found suspected fentanyl (5 grams), methamphetamine, Zene (a synthetic opioid), and drug paraphernalia.
Both Greene and Woodard were arrested and transported to the McDowell County Detention Center.
