A Morganton man is facing felony charges after a traffic stop in Marion led deputies to discover a firearm and suspected methamphetamine.

According to the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Hunter Kirby stopped a Jeep Cherokee on August 12 at the intersection of Jacktown Road and Fairview Road for traffic violations.

The driver, identified as 32-year-old William Andrew Molisee, was found to be driving with a suspended license. During the traffic stop, Molisee reportedly told Deputy Kirby that he was a convicted felon in West Virginia and that he had a firearm in his possession.

Deputies subsequently searched Molisee and reportedly found suspected methamphetamine, a loaded syringe containing an unknown substance, numerous unloaded syringes and drug paraphernalia.

Molisee was arrested and transported to the McDowell County Detention Center for processing.

He was charged with felony possession of a firearm by a felon and felony possession of methamphetamine. Molisee was issued a $25,000 secured bond.
