According to NewsNation, Merkury is recalling approximately 18,000 portable electronic fans after receiving reports that some units caught fire while plugged in. The fans were sold nationwide at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and Sierra stores between October 2024 and October 2025 for about $30, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Two incidents involving fans catching fire have been reported. One of those incidents resulted in smoke damage to property. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers who purchased one of the recalled fans are advised to discontinue use immediately and contact Merkury Innovations for information on receiving a refund.
