On 04/08/2026, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office conducted a focused patrol in the Dysartsville area of Morganton. A deputy observed a vehicle and conducted a registration check, along with a records check of the registered owner. The deputy recognized the registered owner as the individual operating the vehicle and determined that he had an outstanding Warrant for Arrest out of Lincoln County for Possession of Methamphetamine.

The warrant was confirmed as active through Burke County Communications, and a traffic stop was initiated. The driver was identified as Clyde Franklin Doughty Jr., who was taken into custody without incident.

During a search incident to arrest, investigators located a clear plastic bag containing a crystalline substance in Doughty’s pants pocket. The substance was field tested and yielded a positive result for methamphetamine.

Doughty was transported to the Burke County Magistrate’s Office, where he was served with the Warrant for Arrest from Lincoln County and issued a $20,000 secured bond with a court date of 04/09/2026.

He was also charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, receiving an additional $20,000 secured bond and a court date of 04/08/2026.
