Nearly 400 Law Enforcement Calls Reported Across Rutherford County This Weekend

Rutherford County law enforcement and emergency services responded to nearly 400 calls over the past weekend, according to a radio report released by Rutherford County Emergency Communications.


In the past 48 hours, 911 and administrative calls totaled 475, including 65 emergency medical service calls. Law enforcement calls accounted for 394 of the total, with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office handling 200, Forest City police 64, Rutherfordton police 62,  Spindale police 59, and Lake Lure police nine calls.


Fire departments across the county also responded to multiple incidents. Cherry Mountain reported a vehicle fire, while Lake Lure responded to a structure fire with assistance from Chimney Rock, Bills Creek, and Green Hill fire departments. Rutherfordton crews addressed a structure fire and a fire alarm, with Spindale, Forest City, and Hudlow assisting.


Sandy Mush firefighters responded to a structure fire, with Ellenboro, Cliffside, and Spindale departments providing support. Additional incidents included a motor vehicle accident in Spindale and multiple structure fires that involved coordinated responses from Rutherfordton, Hudlow, and Forest City departments.


Rutherford County Emergency Communications emphasized the collaborative efforts among local departments to manage the high call volume.


The report highlights the ongoing demand for emergency services in the county and the need for more volunteer firefighters, underscoring the critical role of local law enforcement and fire departments in ensuring public safety.
