McDowell County, N.C. — A Nebo man faces a felony charge after investigators say he stole a vehicle earlier in December.

Detective Kyle Gibson with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office has charged 25-year-old Derek James Suddreth, of Nebo, with felony larceny of a motor vehicle. Suddreth was issued a $10,000 secured bond.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, on December 17, Deputy Seth Leopold responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in Nebo. The victim told deputies that his truck had been taken from his property overnight.

Following an investigation, detectives identified Suddreth as the suspect responsible for taking the vehicle.

The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office continues to remind residents to secure their vehicles and remove valuables to help prevent theft.
