The Polk County Sheriff’s Office assisted federal authorities on Nov. 13 in the arrest of a New Jersey fugitive wanted on multiple child-sex charges, officials said in a press release.
Members of the Sheriff’s Office Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) and Traffic Enforcement Team joined the U.S. Marshals Service Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force (CRFTF) in locating and arresting 29-year-old Timothy Meadows.
WCAB News has learned the “Mill Spring area” referenced by authorities is on the line of Rutherfordton and Lake Lure. Meadows' NC court records show his address is 1701 Grassy Knob Road, Rutherfordton.
Public records show Meadows is charged in New Jersey with sexual assault and sexual conduct against a child younger than 13. The records indicate the victim was six years old when the alleged crimes began.
Deputies said the arrest was made without incident. Meadows is being held at the Polk County Detention Center in Columbus while awaiting extradition to NJ. A hearing is scheduled for December 3, according to court records.
