Old Fort Man Receives Numerous Drug Charges

An Old Fort man faces several felony drug charges following a traffic stop conducted by the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office Community Impact Team.


Detective Matt Smith charged 60-year-old Odis Dennis Robinson Jr. with two counts of felony trafficking in methamphetamine, felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver Schedule I and II controlled substances, felony possession of methamphetamine, felony maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for controlled substances, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.


Robinson was given a $150,000 secured bond.


According to the Sheriff’s Office, Detective Smith conducted a traffic stop on a GMC Sierra on U.S. 70 West on Friday, October 10, for a traffic violation. During a search of the vehicle, officers reportedly found about 30 grams of methamphetamine, fentanyl, pills, marijuana, and paraphernalia consistent with drug distribution.


Sheriff Ricky T. Buchanan commended the work of the Community Impact Team, noting their continued efforts to reduce drug-related activity and improve community safety.
