Rutherford County Sheriff's Office Handled More Than 4,100 Calls for Service in June

The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office responded to 4,187 calls for service during June, according to the agency's monthly activity report released by Sheriff Aaron Ellenburg.

Deputies completed 286 reports and made 164 arrests during the month while serving 536 legal papers, including 135 criminal papers and 401 civil papers.


The Sheriff's Office also issued 149 concealed handgun permits in June, including 31 new permits and 118 renewals.


The average daily inmate population at the Rutherford County Detention Center was 195, consisting of 159 men and 36 women.


Deputies seized a variety of illegal drugs and firearms during enforcement efforts throughout the month. According to the report, narcotics seized included:

  • 2,008.7 grams of marijuana

  • 1316.4 grams of methamphetamine

  • 126 grams of fentanyl and heroin

  • 3.7 grams of cocaine

  • 282 pills

  • 2 grams of other controlled substances

  • 13 firearms


The report also includes a six-month comparison showing increases in several categories since the beginning of the year.


Calls for service climbed from 3,133 in January to 4,187 in June, while reports increased from 221 to 286 over the same period. Arrests rose from 127 in January to 164 in June, and concealed carry permits issued increased from 114 to 149.


Papers served also trended upward, rising from 499 in January to 536 in June. The average inmate population increased from 175 in January to 195 in June.


The Sheriff's Office noted that monthly activity figures may change as new information becomes available and cases continue to be processed.
