Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office Releases April 2026 Activity Report

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office has released its activity totals for April 2026, highlighting the volume of calls, arrests, investigations, and public safety efforts handled throughout the month.


According to the report, deputies responded to 3,774 calls for service during April, while also completing 272 reports and making 136 arrests across the county.

The Sheriff’s Office also reported continued activity involving concealed carry permits, with:

  • 37 new permits issued

  • 138 renewals processed

  • 175 total permits issued

Civil and criminal service activity remained busy as well. Deputies served a combined 439 papers, including:

  • 145 criminal papers

  • 294 civil papers


Jail Population

The average inmate population for April was reported at 191 inmates, including:

  • 158 males

  • 33 females


Narcotics and Weapons Seized

Law enforcement officials also detailed narcotics and weapons confiscated during the month. Seizures included:

  • 325.7 grams of marijuana

  • 684.2 grams of methamphetamine

  • 6.1 grams of fentanyl/heroin

  • 3.1 grams of cocaine

  • 59 pills

  • 5.9 grams of other narcotics

  • 12 guns


Six-Month Comparison

The report included a six-month comparison showing continued fluctuations in calls, arrests, inmate population, and narcotics seizures from October through March. March recorded the highest number of papers served at 619, while drug seizures varied significantly month to month.


Sheriff Aaron Ellenburg and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office continue encouraging residents to report suspicious activity and work together to help keep Rutherford County safe.

The Sheriff’s Office noted that activity counts may be revised as additional information becomes available and reports are processed.
