Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office Reports Nearly 3,700 Calls In September

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, led by Sheriff Aaron Ellenburg, released its monthly activity report for September 2025, showing a total of 3,698 calls for service and 243 reports filed.


Deputies made 147 arrests during the month, while the jail population averaged 140 inmates — 113 males and 27 females. The office also issued 146 concealed carry permits, including 26 new permits and 120 renewals.


Deputies served 588 papers, including 241 criminal papers and 347 civil papers.


In narcotics enforcement, deputies seized 3,733.5 grams of marijuana, 220.7 grams of methamphetamine, 97.3 grams of fentanyl, 4.1 grams of cocaine, and 6.6 grams of other drugs. They also seized 782 pills and 14 guns.


The report includes a six-month comparison showing trends in law enforcement activity. Calls for service have steadily increased from 3,611 in March to 4,233 in August, with September slightly lower at 3,698.


Reports ranged from a high of 286 in June to a low of 239 in September. Arrests over the six months remained consistent, fluctuating between 117 and 151 per month.


The average inmate population varied between 128 and 163, while narcotics seizures showed sharp increases in certain categories, including pills and methamphetamine.


The Sheriff’s Office noted that figures may be updated as new information becomes available or processed.
