Series of Small Earthquakes Reported in South Carolina

Earthquakes continue to be recorded across the Carolinas, according to the United States Geological Survey.


Two earthquakes struck South Carolina late Sunday night into Monday morning. The first, a 1.8 magnitude quake, occurred at 10 p.m. Sunday about three kilometers northwest of Coronaca. The second, a 2.0 magnitude quake, was reported at 2:51 a.m. Monday about three kilometers north of Coronaca.


Over the weekend, the same area experienced at least nine additional earthquakes, with magnitudes ranging from 1.5 to 2.9.


No injuries or damages have been reported in connection with the seismic activity.
