SPINDALE, N.C. — The Spindale Board of Commissioners approved a series of actions last Tuesday night, including moving forward with a neighborhood revitalization grant, fixing sewer billing errors, and preparing to launch a new town website.

Commissioners voted to pursue a Community Development Block Grant that would help build new homes on Illinois Street, with public hearings set for Sept. 15 and Oct. 20. They also corrected service availability fees on three properties with no sewer connections and amended the town’s FY24 audit contract after delays caused by Hurricane Helene.

Other business included approving a small subdivision on Spindale Street, updates on sewer and wastewater projects, and new signage and hours for the North Slope Skate Park. Town staff also previewed the redesigned CivicPlus website, expected to go live Sept. 5.

The R-S Central centennial celebration begins Sept. 18, followed by the annual Mountains to the Coast cycling ride through town on Oct. 5. For more information and the meeting video, click here.
