Spindale Man Arrested in Bostic Fentanyl Overdose Case

Deputies responded to a residence on Ozzie Drive in Bostic on March 29, 2025, to investigate a reported death. The deceased individual was later transported for an autopsy, which determined the cause of death to be a fentanyl overdose, according to a report received by investigators on September 29, 2025.
Following interviews, evidence review, and consultation with the District Attorney’s Office, investigators identified Chad Ledbetter as a suspect. Warrants were issued on October 3, 2025, for Death by Distribution and Sell or Deliver a Controlled Substance.
That same day, detectives with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, Spindale Police Department, and Road Patrol Deputies arrested Ledbetter on Hamilton Street in Spindale. He was given a $250,000 secured bond.
