Spruce Pine Man Arrested on Drug and Fugitive Charges

A Spruce Pine man was arrested Sunday, September 14, after deputies with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office discovered methamphetamine and other controlled substances during a traffic stop.
According to authorities, Deputy Jordan Cox stopped 35-year-old Nicholas Elijah Hallock on U.S. 221 South for a traffic violation. Hallock was identified as having an extraditable fugitive warrant out of Georgia.
With the assistance of MCSO K9 Rambo, deputies searched the vehicle and found approximately 4.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine, multiple doses of Lorazepam (a Schedule IV controlled substance), and drug paraphernalia.
Hallock was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, felony maintaining a vehicle, dwelling, or place for a controlled substance, misdemeanor simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was held under a secured bond of $50,000 for the McDowell County charges, with no bond set for the Georgia warrant.
