Thank You, McDowell County, for Doing Your Part!

More than 60 pounds of unused and unwanted prescription medications were recently collected from the prescription medication drop box at the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division staff emptied the collection box, helping ensure these medications are safely removed from homes and properly disposed of.

“By safely disposing of these medications, you are helping keep them off our streets, out of the wrong hands and away from those who may misuse them. You are also helping protect our children, families and community,” said Special Operations Captain Chris Taylor.

You can bring your unused or unwanted prescription medications to the medication drop box located in the lobby of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office at 593 Spaulding Road in Marion.

The drop box is available to the public, providing a safe and convenient way to dispose of medications you no longer need.

Proper disposal can help prevent accidental ingestion, misuse and medications falling into the wrong hands.
