On Thursday, August 7, 2025, investigators with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office ACE Team conducted surveillance at the Econo Lodge on College Avenue in Forest City in response to ongoing complaints of narcotics activity at the location.
During surveillance, investigators reported seeing a blue 2020 Dodge Journey with Florida license plates arrive at the motel, remain for a short period, and then leave—behavior they described as consistent with suspected narcotics transactions.
A traffic stop was initiated near the intersection of Oak Street and Woods Drive for a traffic violation. According to authorities, a male suspect ran from the vehicle into a wooded area but was quickly apprehended. Three other occupants remained in the vehicle and were detained without incident.
Investigators stated that the odor of marijuana provided probable cause for a search of the vehicle. A search reportedly resulted in the seizure of 32.7 grams of powder fentanyl, 7.7 grams of crack cocaine, 2.2 grams of powder cocaine, 15.3 grams of marijuana, 0.82 grams of methamphetamine, $685 in U.S. currency, and multiple cell phones believed to have been used in drug trafficking. The 2020 Dodge Journey was also seized as part of the investigation.
The following individuals were charged:
Justin Logan, Forest City – Resisting a Public Officer
Victoria Wray, Spindale – Possession of Methamphetamine
Brian Robinson, Forest City – Trafficking Opium or Heroin, Trafficking Opium or Heroin by Transportation, PWIMSD Cocaine, Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia, Failure to Comply with Driver Restrictions, Covering/Disguising Registration Plate. Authorities reported Robinson is being held without bond due to being on parole for homicide.
The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office has not released further details as the investigation is ongoing.
