The Spindale Police Department has arrested two individuals in connection with a series of organized retail thefts targeting Harbor Freight stores across North and South Carolina.
Since late August 2025, Spindale Police received multiple reports of a male suspect repeatedly entering the Harbor Freight location in Spindale and stealing generators and other tools. On some occasions, a second person assisted with the thefts. The total value of items stolen from the Spindale store is estimated at $3,299.99.
In late September, detectives learned that similar incidents had occurred at four other Harbor Freight locations in North and South Carolina. While each agency had open cases, the suspects had not yet been identified. The Spindale Police Department, working with the Tri-City Violent Crimes Task Force, began coordinating with other agencies to investigate.
During the investigation, detectives identified a vehicle connected to one of the thefts, which was observed locally in the Tri-City area. Following a traffic stop, officers were able to identify several persons of interest. On October 7, 2025, warrants were issued for Michael Scott Moore and Keonadre Shamond Goodlett on charges of organized retail theft and felony conspiracy. Organized retail theft is classified as a Class H felony when the value of stolen retail property exceeds $1,500 within a 90-day period and involves a conspiracy with others.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on October 7, officers from Spindale Police and the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections located Moore and Goodlett at the Motel 6 on Reservation Drive in Spindale. Both individuals were arrested on their outstanding warrants. Officers recovered additional tools in their original packaging, believed to have been stolen from another retail location.
Authorities note that further charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues across multiple jurisdictions involving additional conspirators. The Spindale Police Department and the Tri-City Violent Crimes Task Force thanked the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections for their assistance in the case.
