U.S. Marshals Increase Reward in Shelby Murder Case

The U.S. Marshals are seeking the public’s help in locating Jonathan Martzes Petty, who is wanted for murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Authorities say Petty shot Timothy Lamont Ruff, 50, multiple times on March 29, 2025, following a verbal altercation on Best Street in Shelby.
The U.S. Marshals have increased the reward to $4,000 for information directly leading to Petty’s arrest. Officials note that Petty has an extensive criminal history and should be considered armed and dangerous.
