Vera Martin Pace, age 95, of Forest City, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 3, 2026 at her home.
Born in Chesnee, SC on Sunday, January 25, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Virgle Martin and Ophelia Phillips Martin and the widow of Perry Pace. Vera was a graduate of Chesnee High School, class of 1949. She retired from Tanner Companies and enjoyed working part-time at Isothermal Community College for many years. She is a member of Floyd’s Creek Baptist Church and loved music, gardening and especially her flowers.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Ben Martin and Fate Martin and sisters, Corrine Price and Vivian Parris.
Surviving are her three children, Sherrie Howard and husband, Gary of Huntersville, NC, Larry Pace and Joyce Ann Pace both of Forest City; brother, Harold Martin of Gaffney; grandson, Nicholas Howard and wife, Bettina of Huntersville; great grandchildren, Paxton Howard of Huntersville and Avery Whalen of Smyrna, GA along with a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 am on Thursday, August 6th at Floyd’s Creek Cemetery with Reverend Shane Kirby officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church sanctuary.
Memorial donations are requested to the Parking Lot Fund at Floyd’s Creek Baptist Church, 2004 Chase High Road, Forest City, NC 28043.
