Stein and DMV Commissioner Paul Tine highlighted the agency’s progress since Senate Bill 245 took effect, allowing more online license renewals. More than 18,000 people have renewed online in the past month, and the DMV has hired 64 new examiners, reaching 95% staffing capacity statewide.

Investigators in Rutherford County have located human skeletal remains in the Poors Ford Road area, where a bone believed to be a human femur was found last week. The initial discovery prompted law enforcement to search the surrounding area for additional remains.

Investigators from the Fire Marshal’s Office and the Sheriff’s Office are working together to determine how and by whom the fires were set. Evidence is being collected from both locations, and authorities are reviewing any available surveillance footage from the surrounding areas.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Detective Smith conducted a traffic stop on a GMC Sierra on U.S. 70 West on Friday, October 10, for a traffic violation. During a search of the vehicle, officers reportedly found about 30 grams of methamphetamine, fentanyl, pills, marijuana, and paraphernalia consistent with drug distribution.
