On September 23, Timothy Foster of Candler was found guilty in Buncombe County Superior Court of three counts of statutory rape of a child under 15, seven counts of statutory sex offense of a child under 15, and three counts of indecent liberties with a child. He was sentenced to 40 to 58 years in the North Carolina Department of Corrections.
The case began on February 4, 2022, when patrol deputies with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a sexual assault involving a minor. Deputies met with the victim and took the initial report. The case was later investigated by Detective Tonya Reeves of the Special Investigations Unit, with assistance from the Department of Social Services, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, Mission Child Safety Team, and the North Carolina Department of Justice Special Prosecution and Law Enforcement Section.
Following the investigation, Foster was charged with multiple offenses involving a child.
Sheriff Quentin Miller said the outcome demonstrates the dedication and collaboration of law enforcement professionals, adding that “the justice delivered will have a lasting impact, making our neighborhoods safer for everyone.”
Detective Reeves also thanked Department of Justice attorney Jocelyn Wright for her compassion and dedication, stating her role was instrumental in securing justice for the victim.
