Burke County Men Charged After Communication Lines Cut in Hildebran

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office has arrested one man and is seeking another following an investigation into the theft and damage of communication lines in the Town of Hildebran.

According to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, deputies discovered communication lines that had been cut down on South Center Street between 5th Avenue SE and 4th Avenue SE on August 27, 2026. An investigation was launched, and deputies were able to identify a suspect vehicle.


Patrol deputies later located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was identified as David Loransa Young II. Investigators reportedly found evidence linking Young to the theft of the communication lines earlier that morning.


During the traffic stop, deputies also discovered a firearm inside the vehicle. Authorities confirmed that Young is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Young was taken into custody and transported to the Burke County Magistrate’s Office, where he was charged with:

  • Felony Injuring Wires/Fixtures

  • Felony Obtaining Property by False Pretenses

  • Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Felon


Young was initially given a $75,000 secured bond and was scheduled to appear in court on August 28. He appeared as scheduled, and his next court date is set for September 18, 2026.

During the investigation, authorities also identified Anthony Jackson Lewis as a suspect. Felony warrants have been issued for Lewis.
