RUTHERFORD COUNTY — A routine traffic stop by the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office ACE (Aggressive Criminal Enforcement) Team on November 26, 2025, resulted in the discovery of a substantial quantity of suspected fentanyl and several other narcotics.

The stop occurred on U.S. Highway 74 near U.S. 221 South. The vehicle, traveling eastbound, was operated by Christopher Markov of Charlotte, NC, with Chasidy Weaver, also of Charlotte, riding as a passenger.

According to investigators, while speaking with the occupants, deputies observed what appeared to be narcotics in the vehicle’s center console. Both individuals were asked to exit the vehicle as the investigation continued. During the roadside interview, investigators learned the pair had been traveling from Colorado to Charlotte.

K9 Ranger was deployed for a free-air sniff around the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics, giving deputies probable cause to search the vehicle. During the search, investigators located a black safe concealed inside.
