The Forest City Board of Commissioners meeting Monday night stretched from neighborhood concerns to big funding news.

Several residents told commissioners about noise, junk, and alleged animal neglect at a nearby property during public comment. They urged the town to step in, calling the conditions unsafe and unsanitary.

On a brighter note, the board recognized the East Rutherford High School baseball team for its 30–1 season and 2A state championship, praising the players for both athletic and academic success.

Commissioners also heard from Preferred Choice Healthcare on a new co-responder program, funded by a $3M federal grant awarded to United Way of Rutherford County last year. It's unclear why it took over 10 months to publicly acknowledge it. The Human Action Response Partnership, or HARP, pairs law enforcement with mental health specialists. Since March, the team has answered 90 calls with an average response time under 17 minutes.

The board wrapped up with routine business, approving the sale of surplus golf carts, a financial report, and a housing authority appointment. For more details and the meeting video, click here.
