In early 2025, the Tri-City Violent Crimes Task Force began an investigation into criminal gang activity in the Tri-City area, focusing on a group identified as “448.” The investigation utilized a combination of physical and digital surveillance, as well as multiple sources, to uncover evidence of criminal activity.
On November 10, 2025, investigators secured indictments against Dezani Dillard for gang-related offenses and obtained a search warrant for his residence at 152 Seitz Drive in Forest City, North Carolina. Investigators located Dillard at the residence, took him into custody, and executed the search warrant. During the search, officers found approximately 68 grams of crack cocaine, a “Draco” style AK pistol, a Glock pistol, marijuana packaging and pre-packaged marijuana, and items linked to gang activity.

While the search was underway, Akeereion Flack, another member of the 448 gang with outstanding charges, drove past the residence. Officers stopped Flack and took him into custody on his existing charges.
The arrests are part of an ongoing effort to address gang violence and criminal activity in the Tri-City area, which has reportedly increased in recent years. The Tri-City Violent Crimes Task Force, with support from the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office ACE Team and the Rutherford County District Attorney’s Office, continues to pursue investigations aimed at reducing violence and protecting the community.
These cases represent a historical first for Rutherford County, as they are the first charges filed under the North Carolina Criminal Gang Suppression Act.
Charges for Dezani Arnell Dillard include assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, soliciting criminal gang activity, trafficking in cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture or distribute controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a public park, possession with intent to manufacture or distribute marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, simple possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Charges for Akeereion Caliph Flack include assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and soliciting criminal gang activity.

The Tri-City Violent Crimes Task Force says additional indictments are pending as investigations continue.
