Gatch Receives Charges After Domestic Violence Incident

Detective Kyle Gibson with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 33-year-old Justin Edward Gatch of Marion with felony Breaking and/or Entering with Terrorizing to Injure; misdemeanor Assault on an Individual with Disability and misdemeanor Interfere with Emergency Communication. He was denied bond due to the incident being domestic violence-related.

On January 27, Deputy Hernandez responded to a call about a breaking and entering with assault occurring.

Upon arrival, the victim stated that Gatch had broken into her home and began physically assaulting her after she would not let a child in the home leave with him. Gatch then assaulted an additional occupant in the home who was visually impaired, and trying to dial 911 for help. Gatch then took the child and left the residence.

An investigation into the assault confirmed that Gatch was responsible and he was placed under arrest. The child was unharmed and placed in the care of his mother.
