MARION — Detective Derrick McGinnis with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office has charged 27-year-old Joshua Mark Cline of Marion with felony Larceny of Chose in Action and felony Forgery of an Instrument. Cline was issued a secured bond of $20,000.

On December 12, Cline was called in for an interview at the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office. During the meeting with Lieutenant Jesse Hicks and Captain Paul Alkire, investigators determined that Cline was responsible for the incident under investigation, leading to his arrest.

Following his arrest, a search of Cline revealed he was in possession of a check that had been visibly altered and rewritten to his name.

Detective McGinnis’s investigation confirmed the check had been stolen by Cline, prompting the filing of additional charges.
