Deputy Tre Spearman with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 36-year-old Cody Ray Cogdill of Marion with felony Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana (up to ½ ounce). He was given a secured bond of $10,000.
On February 19, Deputy Spearman initiated a vehicle stop in the West Marion area for a traffic violation. Cogdill, the driver, was found to be operating the vehicle on a suspended license and with a fictious tag.
A subsequent search of the car by deputies turned up a suspected amount of fentanyl, drug paraphernalia and marijuana.
The Marion Police Department assisted with the incident.
