MCDOWELL COUNTY, N.C. — A Marion woman faces felony and misdemeanor drug charges following a traffic stop in the West Marion area, according to the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Tre Spearman charged Nichole Faye Bradley, 43, of Marion, with felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor simple possession of a Schedule V controlled substance. Bradley was initially denied bond because she was already out on pretrial release.

On Thursday, September 3, Deputy Spearman initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the West Marion area for a traffic violation.

According to the sheriff’s office, a subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted after a K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics. Investigators reportedly located a clear plastic bag containing numerous yellow pills identified as Gabapentin, a suspected amount of methamphetamine, a glass smoking pipe and used syringes.

Gabapentin is a prescription medication commonly used to treat certain types of nerve pain and seizures. While legally prescribed for medical conditions, the medication can also be misused or combined with other substances.

The Marion Police Department assisted the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office with the incident.
