Mcgee Charged with Felony Drug Possession

Deputy Tre Spearman with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 52-year-old Sherry Barr McGee of Old Fort with felony Possession of Methamphetamine. She was issued a $5,000 secured bond.

On March 5, Deputy Spearman initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Glenwood area for traffic violations. McGee was identified as the driver and was found to be operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license and with an expired registration tag.

With the assistance of MCSO K9 Hiko, deputies searched the vehicle. At this time, deputies located approximately 5 grams of methamphetamine, 12 grams of an unknown white powdery substance, and a digital scale.

Additional charges are pending the results of lab analysis to determine the identity of the white powdery substance.

The N.C. State Highway Patrol assisted with the incident.
