Two suspects were arrested on their way to South Carolina on drug charges. They said they were going dolphin watching, the Monroe Police Department said.
Dalontae Harris Spears, 31, and Myles Summerville, 33, were driving through Monroe from Ohio Tuesday morning. Around 9:30 a.m., Monroe police officers pulled them over for allegedly having a fake license plate.
When police asked where the two were headed, they said they were heading to South Carolina to go dolphin watching, according to the department.
Officers then searched the vehicle and found marijuana, THC crumble wax, a drone, fishing line and a roughly taped together package, which drew alarm. The package allegedly contained individually wrapped bags of marijuana, cocaine-soaked cardstock paper and a large bag of fentanyl hidden inside of crumble wax.
Police believe Spears and Summerville were going to use the drone to drop the package into a prison or correctional facility.
Spears and Summerville have been charged with felony possession of marijuana, possess with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, trafficking in fentanyl, trafficking in cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both Spear and Summerville were arrested and charged with:
