A Nebo man faces a felony charge after investigators said on Oct. 8 they found him in possession of a motorcycle reported stolen from a residence in August.

Sammy Lee Hensley Jr., 36, is charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, according to McDowell District Court records. Detective Adam Burnette of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.

Deputies responded to a Nebo residence Aug. 29 after receiving a report of a breaking and entering, according to the sheriff’s office. The caller reported being away for several days and discovering that two Yamaha motorcycles — a 1987 YSR 50 and a 1976 YZ 80 — had been removed.

A Moultrie Edge trail camera and keys to a Bobcat mini skid were also reported missing.

The sheriff’s office said Burnette’s investigation found Hensley in possession of one of the motorcycles. The announcement did not identify which motorcycle or say whether the other items had been recovered.

Court records show the charge was filed and an arrest warrant issued Sept. 23. Hensley was arrested Sept. 30, and his secured bond was set at $10,000.

Hensley appeared before Judge Robert Martelle on Oct. 2. The court docket records the appointment of a public defender.

A probable cause hearing is scheduled for Oct. 23 at the McDowell County Courthouse, according to Case No. 26CR414445-580.

The case remains pending. The charge is an allegation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
